I love TV

Wednesdays are the worst day of the week. I don't like any of the regular shows on tonight...pretty much every other day of the week has AWESOME shows!!!
Monday (Favorite night):
High Stakes Poker:
Yummy poker. I love poker. Daniel Negraneau is my favorite player, and so very much enjoy watching these guys joke and prod while winning and losing thousands of dollars.

Heroes:
What a great show. Save the Cheerleader, Save the World tells you everything you need to know about this show. A great story line, real bad guys, real good guys and several who you really don't know about. I still can't figure out if the Guy with the Horned Rim Glasses (HRG) is a bad guy or a good guy. The same with the monster woman Jessica. This is part of what makes the show great...it drives me nuts that I can't figure it out, and I love that I can't figure it out!

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip:
OMG...possible my favorite show right now. I want to be Matthew Perry's character, I want to work with someone who knows the things I need to know and vise versa...perfect show and getting better every week.

Tuesday Night:
House:
Another strong show. The characters are so well written and acted that it's stunning. Hugh Laurie may be the best actor on TV today. He does such a great job of playing this character. His facial expressions alone speak volumnes.

Boston Legal:
When I grow up, if I can't be House, I wanna be Alan Shore. Possibly the best character on TV today. This show is smart and witty and doesn't take itself to seriously. I love the occasional interaction of the characters with the audience. I hate David Kelly's politics, but even when he buries the show in it, it's still great TV. Realizing as I type that one of the things I like about this show is the connection between Denny and Alan, the same thing I like about Studio 60....more realization...I have that connection with the Wife!

Wednesday Night:
Nada

Thursday Night:
Grey's Anatomy:
This has been my favorite show, and still rocks, however, it seems to be getting a bit too serious. My wife and I used to be big ER fans, but it got WAY WAY to stressful, so we stopped...I hope GA doesn't go that way. Also, a great blog of the show helps addicts with down time(Greys Writers)

Friday Night:
Avatar: The Last Airbender:
A friend at work turned me on to this show...me and my kids love to watch it. This Friday is the last episode for this edition of the story line and I can't wait. Well written and drawn. Great story line and very interesting characters. If you like cartoons, this is a can't miss.

Battlestar Gallactica:
I was a BG fan growing up, and these guys have done a FABULOUS job of staying true to the story, giving it a fresh twist and making it relevant to today's SCI FI nerds. They keep giving interesting story lines and more great great acting! I'm still waiting for the felgercarb curse word and Cassiopeia to show up!

Man, I watch to much TV!

Holiday TV

Trying to get motivated to get moving this morning. Kim's still sleeping in the Sun Room, Bear is still in bed and the boy's are down at my sisters.
So....I'm watching Holiday TV!
On Bravo this morning is the Funniest Movies of all time marathon. I LOVE all time lists.
Of the ones that have been listed, I've seen 80% or so. Some that I've not seen that I really need to are:
The Big Libowski, Wedding Crashers and This Is Spinal Tap. I've quoted lines from those movies (the 11 gig in Spinal Tap is classic...I've seen the scene, not the movie) but never seen them. I'm ashamed!

They've not missed any of my favorites:
Stripes, Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail, Young Frankenstein, Bill and Ted, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and such
The great thing about these Best Off shows is that
1) You get validation...what you loved about a movie, others loved,
and 2) You learn something about it that you didn't know. I like the way the go behind the scenes, talk with the directors or actors and talk about something you wouldn't get by just watching the movie.

I can never figure out what my favorite funny movie is....I love so many funny movies...if you put a gun to my head, it would probably be between Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Blues Brothers. Choosing between favorite funny films is like choosing which child is your favorite...impossible. You love them for vastly different reasons.

Thankful (belated)

I know this is usually done ON Thanksgiving, but, I figure I'll be a rebel and do it the day AFTER Thanksgiving.

I kind of complained about having to go to th family party yesterday, but after spending the day with both sides of the family, I realized, I like those people. Aunts, Uncles, nephews and nieces, moms and dads, children and wife. I sat in bed last night, and realized I had a good day and much to be thankful for. I got a bunch of people who love and care about me, and more importantly, care about what's important to me.

I love you guys.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
We're all just laying in bed watching Detroit's Thanksgiving Parade.
One thing is for sure, I need a bigger bed. Now that the kids are growing up, we don't fit the way we used to!!!

I gotta get moving pretty soon. Dinner at Kim's Aunt is in a few hours and I have to make our dish to pass. We are taking Buffalo Wings. VV traditional I know, but we are trying to make an Adkins Diet work in this family and Buffalo Wings only have a few carbs. So, I if can just dodge Gradman's Macaroni and Cheese, Chocalate Delight and Pumpkin Pie, then I'll be ok.

Hope today finds you and yours happy and healthy and not too much heavier!

The beginning of the holidays!

Wow, it's the day before Thanksgiving already.
What a good day it's been. Beautiful weather in Michigan today. Warm, sunny and not windy at all. Kim got the Christmas lights up today, that should tell you how nice it is.
My boss let the whole team go early today. She rocks. I work at FoMoCo in the IT Department and the place is pretty dead after noon the day before a holiday, so she told us all to get out and have a wonderful weekend.
I got home and Kim and the Kids were out stringing lights and patching a hole in the inflatable thingy in the front yard. She always does such a good job (my wife, not the inflatable thingy). I hate putting up lights but I love looking at them. She likes putting up lights and loves looking at them, so we make a pretty good team there!

My Father in Law came over to finish some electrical wiring for the lights. Kim's been bugging him about that since we moved in. Now we've got an outdoor plug with a switch on it and all!!!

Anyway, tomorrow is Thanksgiving and that's cool and all, but I find I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. Every year since we've been married (15 of them in fact) we've gone to my wife's family party. There's always good food and we can watch the Lion's do whatever it is they do (not football) but it's not what it used to be.
The cousins either don't show up, or show up late or leave early because they all have something more important to do. The 'Grown Ups' (Aunts, Uncles and In-Laws) have their petty issues that have to be danced around and it just ends up being a long tiring day.

Not sure what to do about it, other than suck it up.

The bugger is, we are the good kids. We are the ones that come to all the family stuff we possibly can. We go to church every week. We show up at Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and the family reunions. We are the ones that everyone knows will be there and sometimes that plain sucks. We don't like letting people down by not showing up, but we also don't like feeling pressured into doing something that we don't want to do. How do you split the difference?

Blah!

Well, we'll end up going and then stopping by my sisters afterward and hopefully playing some Books and Runs...fun rummy game.

Friday the fun starts, but that'll be another post.

Hello World!

Weblogs wobble but they don't fall down! Hahaha.
Sorry, I thought that was funny.

What a way to start huh?!? With a bad joke? Seriously? Seriously.

Hi..this is my foray into the wide world of blogging. I'm probably coming to this dance a little late, for reasons that will be apparent (hopefully) on upcoming posts. I'm not entirely sure why I've created this, nor if anyone (other than some bot) will read it. That's ok either way. You see, I'm looking for my voice. It's inside, I can almost hear it, feel it, use it. I've got so much to say but have a tough time expressing it. That's where you come in. You, who may not even be there, are my sounding board.

So, wish me luck and see you around.
